Dan Dickau, President
Dan has spent a great deal of time working with our trainers creating quality workouts. Dan continues to be involved in the day-to-day operations of the Academy and looks forward to meeting you in the gym someday.
Daven played at Washington State University where he graduated in 2008. He is a former all-state basketball player in Colorado and was recruited to join Dick and Tony Bennett to rebuild the Cougar program in 2004. Daven played a major role on several competitive WSU teams, including advancing to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. As the second most-winningest player in Cougar history, Daven has the unique ability to teach kids of all ages and skill levels. Whether it is the five year old just beginning or the 18-year old preparing for college, Daven works hard to develop meaningful relationships with all of his players.
Scott O'Gallagher, Coach & Trainer

Scott most recently played professionally in New Zealand in 2011, and holds a career average of just under 20 points/game. Scott has also played in Bulgaria, Australia and Macedonia, where he helped the team reach the playoffs for the first time in team history in 2009. Before leaving to New Zealand in 2011, he was the head coach of Centennial high school in Oregon where he led them to a state playoff win and was runner up Mt.Hood conference coach of the year. Scott is currently coaching our 7th grade boys team in the 11/12 winter season and runs many of our training sessions and clinics.

Skyler Gillispie, Coach & Trainer
After graduating from Hockinson HS in 2007, Gillispie spent one year as a C-Team coach before transferring to Yakima Valley Community College to play basketball. Having a couple of seasons of college hoops under his belt, Gillispie spent the last two years at Washington State University in Pullman. With the opportunity to finish his degree from WSU-Vancouver, Gillispie returned home to add experience, enthusiasm and passion to the Hockinson coaching staff. Gillispie is arguably one of the most competitive players to come from Hockinson and always came prepared to out work everyone else on the court. Along with outstanding passing skills, Gillispie constantly pushed his teammates to become better players. Skyler is a great addition to the Academy staff and our players have the opportunity to learn from someone with valuable experience at such a young age.
Ryan Anderson, Trainer
After playing basketball at Camas High School, Ryan went on to study at the University of Washington. He was a three time all-league player and won all-academic honors as well. Having the desire to continue his basketball career, Ryan returned to Vancouver after two years at UW to play at Clark College. Ryan is currently a full-time student who has two younger brothers, Daniel and Jordan, who still play basketball. He plans to pursue a career in business but enjoys coaching and spending time in the community when possible.
Daniel Anderson, Trainer
Daniel was an all-league player and team captain at Camas High School. Currently, he is playing at Clark College in Vancouver while being a full time student. In 4th grade, Daniel bet his brother Ryan a dollar that he could beat him. That was the first of many times Daniel claims to have beaten his older brother. Daniel's father is his biggest role model who also played college basketball at Vanguard University. He's happy that his mom provides a cheering section for him, Ryan and their younger brother Jordan. Daniel is excited to share his knowledge with the younger players throughout the Dickau Academy.
Alex Kirk, Trainer
Alex Kirk joins the Academy staff with plenty of experience, both on and off the court, for college programs. For the past three seasons Alex has been on staff at the University of Portland while working for coach Eric Reveno. Not only does Alex have experience working for a Division 1 program, he also played for Dick Bennett at Washington State University in 2004. However, his collegiate career was cut short after only one season due to serious knee injuries. Before college, Alex played at Prosser (Wash.) High School and was voted team MVP three consecutive years. He ended his HS career by averagin 16.8 points per game.
Colby Rogers, Coach
Colby Rogers has coached high school basketball for 14 years. Coach Rogers began his coaching career at Decatur High School in Federal Way, WA. While at Decatur, he served as both a varsity assistant and junior varsity coach for five years. In the 1999 -2000 season the Gators entered the post season with a sub .500 record making an unprecedented playoff run and finishing in 5th place at the state basketball tournament.
Since becoming a head high school coach in 2001, Coach Rogers’ teams have qualified for the playoffs in seven out of nine years. In 2007, Coach Rogers garnered the Greater St. Helen’s League Coach of the Year award for leading the Timberwolves to their first winning season in school history.
In addition, Coach Rogers has been a head track and field coach for eight years. He was named the South Puget Sound League Coach of the Year in 1999 and has been fortunate enough to work with five individual state champions, one All-American, and the 2008 Boys Washington State track and Field Team Champion Heritage Timberwolves.
Paul excelled as a two-sport athlete at Sprague High School in Salem playing football and basketball in late 1980s earning opportunities to play both sports at the collegiate level. Paul was a scholarship football player at Portland State University before a knee injury ended his playing career. He returned to basketball after college, playing on a team competing in high-level recreation leagues (two active college players per team) that placed three consecutive years in the top five in the Washington state championship tournament. Paul has coached youth basketball since 2006 and been a coach for the Dickau Academy since 2009. Paul lives in Vancouver with his wife Nicole and two sons, Evan and Ryan where he operates an information technology professional services business and is a published author.
Trevor Person, Director
Trevor's responsibilities come primarily off the court and behind the scenes to organize certain aspects of the Academy. Camps, teams and tournaments are the areas in which Trevor is in charge of on a daily basis. Before graduating from San Diego Christian College, he was an all-league player at Battle Ground High School. Since earning a Master's degree in education, Trevor has taught at Heritage High School where he used to coach varisty basketball.
Shahla Merriman, Coordinator
A mother of four, including a 9th grade basketball player, Shahla joins the Academy Staff with years of experience in customer service, scheduling, and communications. Her passion is doing her part to ensure positive player experiences by working alongside parents and the Academy Staff. Shahla runs the Academy office, where she handles our incoming calls and emails, coordinates the Academy schedule, keeps up with all records pertainng to coaches, trainers, players and facilities, maintains our web site, and offers administrative support to all staff.
